If you want to get your Amazon KDP book noticed,
give it away for 5 days during each 90 day period.

KDP offers you a choice of dates.

If a publication isn't flying off the shelves you won't be losing out by promoting it for free - you will be doing the opposite.

My 3 publications have been dragging their feet while they have a price on them but as soon as I put them on for free the ratings go up.

Today Amazon.com, Amazon.uk and Amazon.de have taken advantage of my 3 FREE Kindle publications and it's only the first day out of the 5 allotted.

Hopefully someone will be good enough to rate what they read.

Kindle publishing

It has been a very a very long time since I blogged on here.
Years ago, making a living as a Freelance Artist - though mediocre I may have been, I really thought I would paint for the rest of my life. How wrong I was?

Being unwell for a number of years and losing several members of my family, inevitably brought on some doom and gloom but one day after reading an inspiring e-mail from Joel Osteen, I realized that there was more to me than just my painting skills.

I had written 2 Children's Books years ago and would either post them to Publishers or drive up and down the motorway delivering them by hand.

The suspense of waiting for good or bad news was a killer.
Manuscripts often sit around doing nothing for months while you're left thinking that the longer the wait, the more interested the Publisher is.

WRONG !

After so many kicks in the guts, demoralization drives you to 'Shelve' your own material - FOR YEARS !

Then 'life' and 'tragedy' cause you to re-assess your life and you start dragging out your old 'tools' - the tools of your trade and VOILA ! All that hard preparation work wasn't in vain and you find that it DOES have the potential to be resurrected ~ with the invention of Digital Self Publishing such as KDP - Amazons Kindle Direct Publishing 

This is what happened in the case of three books I wrote years ago - in the days when I wanted it all to happen 'yesterday' !

I will discuss preparation for turning your manuscript into a Kindle e-Book on my next Blog, but for now here are the three live publications I have on Kindle Direct Publishing at this moment.

A long time ago my daughter Wendy doodled a

funny drawing and thought no more about it.

I immediately saw Fribi’s character and before

I knew it, with my Acrylic Paints and Acrylic Ink,

I had created

"Fribi the Planetarian Tour Guide."

Without Wendy’s drawing Fribi wouldn't have been born.

Happy New Year !

FRINGELESS & FRIENDLESS

I wrote Fringeless & Friendless over 20 years ago when I was a Freelancer.
 

Talk about leaving it on the back burner.
 

At 20 odd - 30 years old no one wants to think they would have to wait that long to be published.

You would have been inclined to throw in the towel.

All that traipsing up and down motorways.
All that waiting to find out ~

" Has it been published OR temporarily or permanently shelved ?"

It's torture !

But the most demoralizing is ~

" Yes it's very nice - good artwork etc - but . .  "

BUT, BUT WHAT ?

Just say it - spit it out ! You can sense the rejection before it's announced.

OR when a publisher hangs onto to it for 3 months and you think,

" THIS IS IT !
I'VE DONE IT !
I'M IN !
I'M GETTING PUBLISHED ! "

But they don't ring you.
YOU have to ring them because they've left it at the back of a pile of OTHER peoples work and they are really sorry, but they forgot about and it's not really what they wanted.
("How do you know Mr Publisher - You didn't even read it ?")

Humm, cry, cry, cry.

THEN - out of the blue - I find myself browsing and hovering over my searches and I come across the Self-Publish pages on Amazon's KDP.

I didn't want to dare to give it any energy for fear of failing or more rejection.
After being ill for such a long time and suffering medical negligence and several personal tragedies, I was on quite a low.
Feeling very inadequate due to my disability - very restricting circumstances, bereavements and impending bereavements, I suddenly had a revelation.

"Use the tools you have"
I thought ~ "Well the only tools I have now are my 2 Children's Books and there's no chance of me keep submitting them to publishers only to be rejected"

"No" - I said to myself - coz I was, by now having a right good chat with myself.
You know how it is sometimes -

"KIndle," I continued.

" Go over to YOUTUBE and learn how to format my manuscripts for the Kindle Market so I DID - and I got published VERY QUICKLY for FREE !

For novices it can at first appear to be Rocket Science - but it isn't.
It just takes a bit of concentration.

I can't do much physically at the moment but my brain has been working THAT hard that I am exhausted - but it's a good tired if you know what I mean.

The sales are slowly trickling in but I am currently having a problem with the Customers Reviews getting published.

You really do need Customer Reviews to maintain a relatively decent status.
Apart from that - I am well pleased.

I am currently on long-term sick (also widowed) but have had permission from ESA and TAX CREDITS to go for it until sales reach a certain level and to keep them informed of course of my 'movements'

So the worry of that is off my shoulders.
